Heather K. D’Onofrio
Heather joined Youman & Caputo in March 2019. She focuses her practice on representing catastrophically injured individuals and their families.
Heather has vast experience handling complex personal injury cases as both a plaintiff and defense attorney. Heather joined Youman & Caputo from The D’Onofrio Firm, where for seven years she was the managing partner of a firm dedicated to representing clients injured by dangerous and defective drugs, medical devices, medical malpractice and other negligent conduct. Previously, Heather developed her skills as a litigator defending physicians and other health care providers in medical malpractice cases at a prominent Philadelphia professional liability defense firm.
In her more than fifteen years of practice, Heather has developed a well-earned reputation for compassionate representation and passionate advocacy for her clients as reflected by her consistent recognition as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star.
Heather is a 2000 graduate of Bloomsburg University, where she majored in sociology. Heather graduated magna cum laude from Temple University School of Law, where she served on the Editorial Board of the Temple Law Review.
She began her legal career with one of Philadelphia’s most prominent defense firms, where she represented hospitals, doctors and nurses in defense of complex medical malpractice cases. In addition to honing her skills as a litigator working on high stakes litigation, she gained invaluable insight into how such cases are defended.
In 2012, Heather decided to redirect her practice to representing individuals who have suffered serious personal injuries. Motivated by a desire to seek justice and fair compensation for serious injury victims and their families, Heather joined her husband in private practice at The D’Onofrio Firm. She represented injured plaintiffs in a variety of matters including general personal injury matters as well as pharmaceutical liability and medical malpractice actions.
Heather is an adjunct faculty member at Delaware County Community College, where she has taught Civil Litigation and Tort Principles and various other courses to students in the paralegal studies program.
Since 2011, Heather has consistently been selected as a Pennsylvania “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine, a recognition reserved for the top 2.5% of lawyers who are 40 or under, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less.
Heather lives in Delaware County with her husband and two children. She is active in her community and serves on the Board of Directors of the Helen Kate Furness Library. She enjoys time outdoors with her husband and their two young children.
